Wearable spaces
as antidote
We feel uncomfortable when people enter our personal space and we become uncomfortable when unfamiliar electronic devices do the same.
How certain electronic devices invade our personal space?
How can we design and increase the comfort in public space?
As comptures become ubiquitous change the way we perceive our everyday activities. Wearable devices are prosthetic in the sence that they extend the capability of our memory and our ability of interaction.Devices on our bodies will multiply. Sensors, cameras, input methods, and displays will work their way into our clothing and on our body. They’ll listen for commands and whisper in our ears."The main idea of wearables is no doubt that of personal empowerment through it ability to equip the individual with a personalized, customizable, information space, own, operated and controlled by the wearer" Steve Mann, 1998
Our environment will respond to us in new and interesting ways.On the other hand the continuous exchange of what we are doing, where we are, and who we are with, change the ways we interact with each other and with our surroundings. As electronic devices are becoming so prevalent many people find themselves surrounded by them. Electronic devises can invade our personal space by betraying our privacy.
Connectedness: bringing individuals closer in digital world.
Human Disconnectedness: giving more distance between individuals in
physical world.
Technology gave us anonymity, brings us closer.

Wearable spaces 01 / Physical space
Personal space is increasingly challenged and violated by external pressures. Physical boundaries marks the wearer's personal space by activating a space-defining physical projection around the body.
Wearable spaces 02 / Digital space
My approach to helping people cope with intrusive technologies is to develop counter-technologies.By building prototypes and spaces that reflect considerations of social issues.
Wearable spaces can create different spaces when people interact with each other in physical world.
Inspired by natural camouflage - it increases an animal's chances of survival by tricking predators. Animals change their camouflage in accordance with a change in their surroundings.
Identity’s ambiguous nature blurries the active boundaries of the artifacts
and maneuvers that act upon it. We have identified three main elements
within a human based interactive event and classified different pragmatic
and artistic approaches according to their influence on such elements.
Wearable devices can help users to identify, remember people, places
and things, can work as location reminders, for entertainment purposes, as
digital diaries, as data recording, receiving and sending devices. Sharing
the personal data under the scope of communication.
